Cape Fear Living is not just a sponsor but a proud supporter of this year's Wilmington Fur Ball taking place on 2nd November.
The Wilmington Fur Ball was created in 2005 by people who loved animals tremendously. Two of the four originalfounders, Norma Troutman and Gloria Johnson, representing the Pender County Humane Society (PCHS), formed a committee of animal devotees and created an annual fundraising gala.
The first Fur Ball Committee, with the unwavering support of the community, created a memorable annual experience that would support the efforts of Pender County Humane Society's no-kill animal shelter in Burgaw, NC. With this thought in mind, a red-carpet, black-tie event was named The Wilmington Fur Ball. With the event's enormous success, the Fur Ball Committee brought a second no-kill animal group, Adopt an Angel (AAA). These two organizations and other Fur Ball committee members now plan and host this annual event.
In 2014, committee members, recognizing the needs of other rescue groups, decided to give a portion of the profits to other no-kill organizations. By completing a short application, groups can ask for financial help from the Fur Ball without committing time, energy, and volunteers to plan and put on a formal affair. The only requirements are that the group must be registered as a no-kill rescue organization and reside in New Hanover, Pender, or Brunswick Counties tri-county areas. The Wilmington Fur Ball Committee is proud to state that since the inception of Fur Ball 16 years ago, $303,000 has been raised to support saving animals in the three county areas. As the Wilmington Fur Ball continues to grow and thrive, the Fur Ball Committee remains steadfast in its mission to provide financial aid to animal-related groups in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties. This commitment underscores the event's purpose and the significant impact it has on our local community. We urge you to join us in this noble cause. The Wilmington Fur Ball extends its heartfelt thanks to you for your dedication to the welfare of animals in your community.
How Can I Help?
It takes a community to care for animals that, through no fault of their own, are without homes. So, the Wilmington Fur Ball needs the community's help to work and support this worthwhile organization. Whether as a financial sponsor, donor of an auction item, or serving on a subcommittee, we need your help. Please open the "Get Involved" tab to see the sponsorship levels to be considered, the opportunity to donate an auction item, or volunteer to help with the Fur Ball. Also, if you cannot help with one of the above opportunities, you can donate here.
