Most people don’t think of Missouri as the place to get their wine fix, but Augusta Winery is an exception—one you need to take advantage of as soon as possible. It’s actually the first federally approved American Viticultural Area on record (even before Napa). This winery sits on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River Valley. Prices aren’t too high, so you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank when you inevitably spend the whole day here.
You may not want to head to Texas for a while, but this is a winery to hold on to for future endeavors. Most people come to this area for some whiskey, but there are about 50 wineries here that you can also take advantage of. This winery sources 100% Texas grapes, so you know you’re sipping on authentic, locally sourced wine. As an added bonus, enjoy their patio area at sunset and the BBQ right nearby!
We had to put another East Coast winery on the list, and what better than the beautiful Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery? The area is stocked full of wineries, but this is one of the best in the United States. You get history, a view and delicious wines. Frank was the vintner responsible for introducing Riesling and Gewurztraminer grapes to the area, so you’re sure to sip on some stunning whites while you’re here. Grab a glass and overlook Keuka Lake for a vacation you won’t forget!
